In Bollywood, inspiration can come from anywhere. And it is not unknown that two different films find a base in the same subject.
This time, it seems as if both Nishikant Kamat and Sujoy Ghosh have derived some ideas from the Japanese novel The Devotion of Suspect X, the highly acclaimed 2005 novel by Keigo Higashino, the third in the Detective Galileo series.
Kamat's version Drishyam stars Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran, while Ghosh's yet untitled film produced by Ekta Kapoor stars Kangana Ranaut.
Kamat may beat Ghosh to the winning post. Kamat's films went on floors recently. Ajay wants the film to hit the theatres in July.
Is Ekta going to wait and see how the Devgn movie fares at the box-office before going ahead with her's?
Meanwhile, a Tamil film on the same subject starring Kamal Haasan is ready for release.
